Mercedes “MJ” Javid is definitely reaping the rewards of her recent commitment to getting healthy. She revealed back in June that she had slimmed down 15 pounds, and now the Shahs of Sunset pal is telling The Daily Dish how much life has changed since she began working out and eating healthier.
“In January, once we wrapped Season 6, I was just about the gym and my trainer [Newlyweds‘ Craig Ramsay] took me to the grocery store and said, ‘You can eat these things, you can’t eat these things. And it’s this many calories, and I need you to journal it.’ And exercise really pumps the blood and makes everything circulate, and it’s just, makes you genuinely happier and then you get the high from working out,” she shared of the benefits of her new lifestyle. “Your body moves better, and you just feel more comfortable and you can bend over and breathe easy and better sex and all of that good stuff.”
MJ does admit that “it does take a lot of effort” to stay committed to working out and eating right. “You have to go out of your way to eat healthy and losing weight isn’t easy after a certain age, so it’s definitely something that I was, like all encompassing, like I have to think about not eating,” she said. “Oh, you’re hungry, and you’re not gonna go to bed for another four hours, well then you’re gonna be hungry for a couple, like you can’t always just be doing this and grazing.”
MJ went on to explain that some of her favorite go-to activities include “hiking, walking uphill, interval-like sprints, the stairs machine, and I’ll just start dripping sweat.”
